A deep inhale racked her frame, and she set to work settling her nerves- which was much easier said than done. This was her first day at Aeon Academy. And she was nervous- to put it mildly. The previous night, her mind bombarded her with doubt after doubt, and all she could do was lay there and listen, as the moonlight cast beams on her skin, its mutation shifting visibly.
She wished all she was could just be pushed aside and claimed 'A split personality.' Unfortunately.. that wasn't how it went. It was more.
Focus sweetheart. Her mind begged of her, and she did. Kyah's platinum black eyes flowed up the walkway to the facade of the school, which towered expectantly in front of her. Kids were here and there, not in great groups, but straggling along at their own comfort and confidence. She felt the odd one out, though would try everything in her power not to let it show.
Her long dark hair was pinned back in a curling ponytail that contrasted greatly to her pale skin. A light gray hoody and dark blue jeans with worn converse gave her the appearance of just another kid, nothing special. Silently, she chewed on her lip, wondering where to go, and how many times she'd get lost that day. Probably a million. Kyah thought to herself with what could pass as a bit of humor.
The small stack of notebooks were pressed against her chest by folded arms protectively, although she wasn't necessarily thinking of it. This could be why, then, as she stumbled clumsily over a bump in the sidewalk, the books slid from her grip and crashed to the ground.
Kyah sighed outright as she watched her various papers spread over the concrete. Perfect start to a perfect day.

Everything seemed pretty calm, previous students that had already been attending this school for years continued their daily routines. One wouldn't really notice the fact that this school was different, except for one you saw a student using their powers here and there just for fun. One of them was a boy with ebony colored hair, twirling around a little ice orb. A bored expression was plastered over his face, icy blue eyes dull from the lack of nothing better to do. He would come out to the front of the school ever so often. Just to see the new freshman or just about any new arrivals that showed up. 'Fun, fun, fun...'
It was 'entertaining' to watch their faces as they got their first look at the place. How comfortable everyone was, like they fit in when they knew they were different. It usually was a sigh to behold at first, but you got over it soon enough and just faded in with the rest. He was currently wearing a simple pair of black jeans, along with a few changes hanging loosely off them. A black button up dress shirt was part of the outfit, a dark maroon tie had been loosely tied, not giving the appearance he was heading somewhere special. His hair remained the same as ever, long and shaggy as it covered about only part of his face.
Cool gaze was watching the very front of the school, usually where new students were dropped off. That's when he noticed someone walking toward the school, looking as if she had no clue as what to expect once she get right in front of the building. Sadly, she didn't make it that far as she seemed to trip over something, causing the books she had once held to her chest fall to the ground. What made it worse was the fact that papers had scattered across the ground, making her situation worse at the moment. People just glanced her way and continued walking, some didn't even notice her at all. 'Stupid bastards...'
He jumped down from his perch on the wall he had been sitting on. Once he landed on his feet he merely cleaned his clothes, and then continued over to the nervous teen. He picked up some of the papers that were closer to him, seeing as some had flown a great distance. He sighed as he knew it must have made her day worse for something to happen after only a few minutes of arriving at a new school. In his hands he had all of the papers, wasting no time in retrieving them and not caring if she wanted him to or not. After ending up a few inches away from her, he knelt down to get the books from the ground.
He stood up, wiping away the dart while neatly stacking the papers in a group on top. He was finally able to look at the girl after all was said and done. A small reassuring smile was given as he was pretty sure she expected something else. "Well, I'm sure that's a good way to start off the day." Some humor was sprinkled in, though in a soft way as to not insult or embarrass her more than she was. He held the books firmly in his hands, showing no intentions of handing them back. "I think I'll hold on to these so we won't have a another accident." Timbre was gentle, though hinting he wouldn't give them back 'till he was done.
Realizing he had neglected to introduce himself, he switched the books over and tucked them under his left arm, sticking out his right so he could shake her hand in a proper greeting. "My name is Jazza-Belle Ryder by the way. You must be new right? Otherwise you wouldn't look so lost. His lyrics remained kind, not wanting to make this any harder for her. "Why don't I show you around. And I won't take no for an answer." A grin slowly spread over his face at his final words. Sooner or later peopled learned about Jazza and his ways, some didn't agree with his methods but he didn't take it to heart anyways.

The rest of the world, apparently, was quite content in the idea of just passing her by. Which, as it did frequently, she felt no particular qualm in it. The fact that she had gained some glances, however, did make a hot wave of embarassment rise in her cheeks, coloring them from their marble pale to a light pink.
A slender hand pressed to her brow, her fingers covering her eyes as she struggled to recompose herself. The papers around her were stationary (thank god for lack of wind that day) and therefore she felt in no particular rush to retrieve them, and seem to be nervously scrambling about the lawn. She took her hand away of course, and her liquid black eyes fell upon a boy crouching down, and picking up her books.
Kyah bit back a small reaction smoothly, all the while surpressing another wave of heat. He stood, and her gaze locked with his, trying to hide the insecure mortification of her bumbling scenario. However, the smile that the boy had offered was surprisingly relieving, and she immediately relaxed, if only a little. He cracked a joke, and Kyah this time could not hold back a blush as it vaguely tinted her cheeks.
"I seem to be a magnet for 'great beginnings' these days." She admitted softly, her voice coming out in the usual smooth feminine tones. Kyah went to reach for the books, but found, (with a hint of amusement well concealed) that he had them securely. Her silvery black gaze swept from them back to his eyes, and could not help but smile very gently, almost unnoticeably at his intention.
"You know..that might just be a good thing. And..thank you.. so much." She felt like an idiot, but had a feeling that this emotion would be her best friend in the near future, and for a bit after that. Kyah's arms dropped softly to her sides, now void of anything else to drop.
However her hand picked up again a moment later, as she too had forgotten introductions. Her skin brushed against his, as her thin fingers returned the shake. Kyah proceeded to smile at his statement, her gaze dropping for a moment, before returning. "Kyah Tayes..and, well, correct. Its great to know I look as dumb as I feel." She was joking of course, though a slight, shadowy roll of dark eyes marked her struggle to overcome the awkwardness of her folly. "But.. if you're offering a tour- I'd be even dumber to refuse." She admitted, with the corners of her mouth tilting upwards confessionally. She had to admit- she liked Jazza already. Maybe since he might not have talked to her in any other situation, but he happened to be there in the right place at the right time to save her from her.. predicament.
Maybe she could count on him in the future, or at least return the favor. This was a school for heroes, right?
Kyah fought against the habit to chew on the inside of her lip thoughtfully, and instead, just brushed a waving dark lock back behind her ear, her gaze tenatively reapproaching his.
